Pension Sharing
Pension Sharing is the most modern option for dealing with pension assets on divorce. It was introduced by the Welfare and Reform Act 1999 and became available for couples starting their divorce proceeding on or after 1st December 2000.
Using this option, a court must implement a Pension Sharing Order which instructs how a pension should be shared between the spouses. The ex-spouse then receives a share of the pension fund in the form of a Pension Credit.
